ARIZONA Goldrush - Outdoor education adventure
A unique and wonderful educational adventure, WOLF’s Outdoor Education, Arizona Goldrush trip, takes the students to the old west mining town of Oracle, AZ, to explore the mines, caves, desert ecosystem, topography, and original artifacts of Wild Bill Cody’s prospecting acreage at the foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains. Students will enjoy hiking, building a past life village, practicing archery & tomahawks, hot stone cooking, crafting medicine bags, drilling shells, and other WOLF outdoor skills instructional activities. The group will hike through the abandoned mining encampment to find remnants of mining homes, wells, the saloon, and other historical artifacts from the Cody operation. They will then venture inside an abandoned tungsten mine nicknamed the “Blood Mine” for the colorful deposits seeping from the walls. Later, the group has a chance to venture over one mile into the incredible Peppersauce Cave system, a fantastic experience for students and teachers alike. While adventuring, the group stays in the contemporary, heated cabins of the Oracle YMCA camp with full facilities, dining hall, high ropes course, swimming, and similar amenities. The Arizona Gold Rush adventure is a great exploration travel trip with abundant educational opportunities and one-of-a-kind experiences that promote bonding, self-strengthening, and tons of fun.
