A couple hours outside of Phoenix, is the storied mining town of Oracle, Arizona where WOLF hosts the Arizona Goldrush Adventure. Students arrive by bus to become immersed in the fantastic and diverse desert ecosystem and make lodging in the Angel Village development of the Triangle YMCA camp property once owned by Wild Bill Cody. Students explore abandoned gold and silver mines, hike through crumbled ruins of a once bustling mining development, explore the desert by day and night, and enjoy a compliment of team, science, and primitive living skills activities specific to the area. On the last full day, the students travel to the nearby Pepper Sauce Cave and journey by headlamp with WOLF guides 1/2 mile into a magnificent and spacious cave dating several thousands of years back to marvel at stalactites and stalagmites, underground lakes, the “rabbit hole” and similar geologic features. The Arizona Goldrush Adventure is a once in a lifetime road trip style program guaranteed to thrill with memories to last a lifetime.
One of the most unique adventure trips in the WOLF portfolio takes students to Oracle, Arizona. There, trail groups explore the Santa Catalina Mountains, the fantastic desert ecosystem, the Arizona trail, Mt. Lemon, and the underground lakes and caverns of Pepper sauce Cave. This grand adventure is science-based, memorable, and fun for groups interested in a destination-style trip rich in exploration and historical interest.
